Whether you’re working at home or in an office, a well-deserved vacation is something we are all entitled to. But as soon as we feel far from our workplace, most of us feel a certain guilt that hinders us from fully enjoying and taking advantage of our sweet escape.
When I go on a vacation, I would always feel like I have left the stove open. I always had to remind myself to just relax, enjoy and pretend that my vacation would never end. Here are the things you have to remember before going on a vacation off work:
Plan Ahead of Time
To fully put your mood in vacation mode, planning is very essential. Aside from planning your actual vacation, plan for the things that you will leave behind, either from work or for your house. Don’t forget to pay for house bills and remind people you that you will be gone for a while (family members or people from work). Inform them ahead of time, you don’t want them thinking that your body is in a ditch once you suddenly disappear.
Planning ahead has a lot of perks. You can take advantage of cheaper airfares and more lodging options. This will also let you go wild with imagining all the possible activities you can do, making planning fun and not frustrating.
Stop Fidgeting, It’s Just a Vacation!
In this world where it is very easy to be a workaholic, (since technology made it now possible to work anywhere), we feel that we are abandoning our work after a few days of being gone. Remind yourself that you are not slacking. Treat it as a health investment. Studies have shown that taking a vacation off work would lessen stress and the feeling of being burned out. Spending more hours at work often leads to less time for sleep and insufficient sleep takes a substantial toll on performance.
You’ve heard it a million times before, and I’ll say it again. Health is wealth. You don’t want your hard earned money just go to medical bills due to exhaustion for working too much. Taking a break will refresh your mind and body, Increase your productivity and giving you a positive energy to go back to work again.
Take a Vacation You Can Afford
Taking a vacation is no joke to your pocket. An expensive vacation will just create more stress than relief. There is no reason for a trip to be expensive. As a kid, the vacations that is memorable for me are the cheaper ones, where we would go to a nearby beach and rent a small place. You can do simpler vacations like going camping, or driving to the nearest beach. Being back with nature will release your bored soul from the concrete jungle of your house or office.
Staycations are also a good way of having a cheaper vacation, book a hotel or rent a place where you can just relax, and be a sloth all day. Spend a week sleeping and waking up late, it will definitely make you hate the world less. Wear your pajamas until you get tired of it (which if you ask me, will never happen.)
Take a Vacation By Yourself
Trust me, this is not as sad as you think it. It quite empowering, really. Treating yourself to a solo vacation is one of the best things you can do. Get to know yourself, feel independent in a place you’ve never been before. Having a vacation with someone can be stressful and tiring. This is a great opportunity to enjoy yourself, and spend your time just like exactly how you want it. Always remember, a work-life balance is great for you.
Usually, typical jobs wouldn’t allow you to just take vacation days anytime you want. Work as an online English tutor, and wear your scuba gear anytime of the year. Click this link below to know more:
